The Romanian Horizon of ‘Quis ut Deus?’

Introduction

The Legionary Movement of Romania (Legionaries) under the name of the Legion of the Archangel Michael (Legiunea Arhanghelului Mihail) was founded June 24, 1927 by Cornelieu Zelea-Codreanu (also Englished as Codregnu), then aged 26 years and led by him until his assassination Nov 30 1938.

Officially, the Legion was formally dissolved Jan 11, 1931 under King Carol II of Romania (reigned : 1930-1940). The Iron Guard of the Legionaries was formally dissolved 23 January 1941.

If the Legionaries was the type of organisation that could be dissolved by the decision of a temporal state, there would be not much else to write except the history of 1927 – 1941, but as Codreanu foresaw, the story of the Legion would continue and he dedicated his final work “For My Legionaries” to the ‘other Romanian horizons’ of the Legion. So the beautiful Adventure continues. Sounds better in French: ‘la plus belle aventure du monde, c’est la notre’.

With the abdication of King Carol II (1940) and succession of King Michael I (1940-47), Romania was thrown into chaos (again). Only the Legionaries could form government, as the Communists tried to seize power (again) . When Horia Sima who had succeeded Codreanu as leader of the Iron Guard became vice premier of Romania’s National Legionary State under King Michael I, the Iron Guard removed all Jews from positions of political power (again). .

But as vice premier, Sima made one of those political alliances of convenience with General Ion Antonescu. And a year later, the General betrayed his alliance with the Legionary State and made a secret alliance with Adolf Hitler (whose jails were full of Legionaries returning from the Spanish Civil War). For the assistance of the Reich, Hitler presented Antonescu with a choice between the regular Romanian military and the Iron Guard of the Legionary State. General Antonescu answered with a coup against the Romanian Legionary State of King Michael I and proceeded with the suppression of the Legion from the government. In the decades of the Communist Revolution to follow, there would be many re-runs of this bad movie.

It was the Antonescu faction of the Romanian government which decided upon alignment with Nazi Germany in what was thought to be Hitler’s war against Bolshevism: its Revolutionary base in the USSR and its alliance with the gruesome twosome. That would be the crypto Communist United States and the crypto Communist United Kingdom , both of which had created the USSR.

For Prince Michel Sturdza, the Legionaries is of Romania – a Danubian state with roots deep in the civilisation of the West. He saw its Romanian language and culture as the true legacy of the ancient Dacians – defeated by the Emperor Trajan 105 AD – as well as the true repository of the Latin heritage from both Nova Roma and the Holy Roman Empire.  The Romanian religious and political institutions reflected this, principally in the Orthodox Church and the political party of the Legionaries: Totul pentru Tara (All for the Fatherland).

And in Romania all was needed in the decades between the world wars when the Communist Revolution (based in the Soviet Union) was breaking out in Western and Central Europe and bending all its powers to regime change and seize European nations for Bolshevism which had come to power in Russia 1917.

To understand all this from a Roman Catholic perspective, I think one has to look not just at the Church, but also the nations which have Christian patrimony in the Church, indeed even ‘the Christian idea within the minds of men’ and consider what these as a totality are up against. Quite simply : what Pope Pius XII stated in his address to the Katolikentag of Vienna , Sept. 14, 1952 : “The Church” he said “Is going to fight this battle to the end. For it is a question of the supreme values.” (Pope Pius XII. Discorsi e Radiomessagi , vol. XIV, p. 314 )

“There is a need” wrote Pope Leo XIII “for a union of all brave minds with all the resources they can command. The harvest of misery is before our eyes…” (Graves de Communi, January 21, 1901) , a harvest that would be manifest in the “overthrow of the entire order of human affairs.” (Pope Pius IX. Nostis et Nobiscum.December 8, 1849.)

For this titanic conflict which the Church would have to sustain across the entire globe against the principalities and powers, the spirits of wickedness seated in the high places together with their human agencies which have taken counsel with them and against the Lord and His Anointed, the Anthema was cast and ratified by an entire line of popes. The Church called upon the Archangel Michael and the militae caelistis in pontifical masses. The prayers of the faithful acknowledged this at every Low Mass right up until Vatican Council II. The power of the Keys was invoked for all who would answer the call, for the blood that would be shed for Christ the King in the conflict that the Church had determined to fight to the end.

And in Romania, in the decade of the 1920s, the militiae caelistis answered the call.

This was the Legion of the Archangel Michael. Naturally anathema to the modern, post Christian and secular mind, the Legionaries was a hierarchical, militant and nationalist organisation. It made rigorous determinations in terms of its leadership and para-military: the Iron Guard. As an organisation it created the template for the future Romanian government. Although, the template was not modeled upon either Italian or German national socialism, the Legion incorporated the Roman fasces into its plan in recognition of the national heritage.

The para-military wing, of the Legionaries: the Iron Guard (Garda de fier) is described by the Wiki snark as: ultra nationalist, anti Semitic, Magyarophobic, antiziganist, anti-communist, anti-capitalist and (last and worst for planet Wiki) – the Iron Guard promoted Eastern Orthodox Christianity.

So basically, to the Marxist mind meld, in the Legionaries of Codreanu, the tank of infamy had been filled to the full measure. With an impossible word like ‘Magyarophobic’, what the Wiki is here attempting to convey to modern minds is that Romanians opposed the historic Austro-Hungarian annexation of Transylvania (which is ethnically Romanian and traditionally part of Romania’s geography) from the time when the bulk of Romania had been  taken over by the Ottoman Empire. And, not only were they ‘Magyarophobic’, they were (shudder) ‘antiziganist’ as well.

Lest we forget, it is historically significant that when the Legion actually formed the national Legionary state in Romania under King Michael I and before General Ion Antonescu’s secret alliance with the Third Reich, Jews were summarily removed from positions of power and social influence by the Iron Guard.

Although the Legion was decisive and effective in opposing the communisation of Romania, it was not organised to achieve merely negative goals. It was organised for the conservation and development of the spiritual, national, cultural and geographical patrimony of Romania.

Its mission was a Legionary Romanian state (which it achieved), as well as what Codreanu foresaw as “other Romanian horizons” – which it awaited.

Historically, the principles of the Legionaries were forged in the first decade of the independent Danubian state’ s resistance to the Communist victory over Russia and the Internationalist efforts to bring the Revolution to power in Central Europe. Codreanu’s principles were formed against both the armed aggression of the Revolution, namely seizure of power as quickly and ruthlessly as possible (the Marxist – Leninist Hammer) and the slower deconstruction of a nation targeted for Communist conquest in terms of its ethnic and cultural heritage – above all  its spiritual patrimony. This last is Cultural Marxism – the Gramscian Sickle.

The JQ is prescient and pressing in the writings of Codreanu – but his work is not centrally concerned with ‘the Jews’, as of course Jewish discourse would have us to believe. His subject proper is Romania and what is good for Romania from a Christian, nationalist and historical perspective. Naturally, this doth not cream cheese the bagel in terms of the central Zionist issue of the Communist Revolution: ‘what is good for the Jews?’ That would be the Tribal Agenda: their world state and its accession to global power.

On this subject, Codreanu has much to say and his writing is as clear and relevant to the nationalist questions and issues of today as it was to Central Europe of the 1920s.

“I will underline this once again” he wrote. “We are not up against a few pathetic individuals who have landed here by chance and who now seek protection and shelter. We are up against a fully fledged Jewish internationalist state. And it has sent an entire army to Romania with its sights set upon conquest. The movement of the Jewish population and its penetration into Romania are being carried out with precise plans. In all probability ‘the Great Jewish Council’ is planning a new Palestine on a strip of land, starting out in the Baltic Sea embracing part of Poland and Czechoslovakia and half of Romania right across to the Black Sea.” (Codreanu. “The Resurrection of Race”. 1936)

It is the historical context and its subject proper: Romania in the decades between the world wars which throws into high relief the Communist ideology and praxis of both Marxist Leninism and Cultural Marxism. The nationalist and counter revolutionary principles of the Legionaries, the organization of the Movement and its spirituality were forged against them both.

Even after a century of Communism, the minions of the West think some kind of racialism or an Xtianity Lite form of a mere economic system , such as national socialism, is going to cut it against the Communist Revolution in its Global / Totalitarian phase.

Although Codreanu was the author of national socialist principles for a Legionary government of Romania, those principles did not rest on a national socialism. He was executed by the Romanian state when it was seeking to be in the Third Reich’s national socialist sphere of influence, when the Reich was clearing the path through Central Europe for the advance of the Red Army.

Codreanu’s conclusion is: the Christian nation state is the only bastion against Communism.

This essay deals principally with the Legionaries as a movement and the principles of its founder – its historical foundations, political analysis and spiritual patrimony. It will look specifically at symbols and elements upon which Codreanu drew for his inspirations in the formation of the Legionaries. These would be the fasces, Roman law and jurisprudence, the Christian faith of Oikumene. In terms of the latter, this is the bedrock of Romania’s spiritual patrimony, a patrimony it shares with the Crimson Thread nations of The Isles , one of which is England.

These historical elements are applicable for all time to those “other Romanian horizons” foreseen by Codreanu in his prison work: “For My Legionaries”. They are applicable in present tense to the nations of the Crimson Thread series of essays written for The Hunting Call website: Rhodesia, England America , Australia as well as the mission to conserve the White African national heritage in those nations.

Because the Iron Guard of the Legionaries is famed afar in terms of its Wiki profile – especially in the Western Marxist press (but I repeat myself) – a few paragraphs of remark on this subject will be set down in due course.

Oikumene

“A time will come when all the world’s nations will arise from the dead, with all their kings and emperors. Every nation has its place before God’s throne. The final moment : ‘resurrection from the dead’ is the highest and most sublime goal for which a nation can strive. The nation is thus a creation that lives beyond its life on earth and world and time. Nations are also realities in the world to come. To us Romanians, to our nation, as to every nation in the world , God assigned a specific mission: God has given to us an historical destiny.”  Corneliu Zelea Codreneau

For Codreanu, the first law by which every nation must abide is discovery of purpose and attainment of destiny. And the Legionary awareness and cultivation of nation will be occupied with that destiny. He poses the question: are we going to be the weak and cowardly generation that will relinquish under threats (Communist threats) , the Romanian destiny and renounce our national mission?

Romania, as with the Crimson Thread nations of The Isles, is bound up with Nova Roma and its Oikumene.

In the grounds of York Minster, there is a statue of Constantine, the first Christian Emperor of Rome. In 306 A.D., Constantine was the Romano-Dacian general who was proclaimed Roman Emperor of the West.

Constantine

The inscription reads:

“Constantine the Great 274 – 337 . Near this place, Constantine was proclaimed Roman Emperor in 306 A.D. His recognition of the civil liberties of his Christian subjects and his own conversion to the Faith established the religious foundations of the Western Christendom. “

Constantine was born of the people of ancient Dacia (Greek Geta ; Roman Daci ). The Greek historian, Herodotus describes them in his Histories (Book IV, XCIII) as the most noble and the most just of all the Thracian tribes. Ancient Dacia was conquered by the Romans 106 A.D under the Emperor Trajan (of ‘the Wall’ fame in Alba and Albion). The land of Trajan’s conquest, ancient Dacia, today comprises the nations of Romania, Moldova and parts of Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland and Ukraine.

Constantine’s father , Roman General: Flavius Valerius Constantius was the Roman Emperor of the West from 293 A.D. and Constantine succeeded him in 306 A.D. His reign was marked by the declining years of pagan Rome, when the empire descended into the War of the Tetrarchs. Victory went to the West when Constantine defeated Licinius 328 A.D.

Constantine was proclaimed Roman Emperor 328 A.D. and ruled as sole emperor from 328 – 337 A.D. He took the title Dacius Maximus 336 during his attempt to reconquer Dacia for Rome. And he removed the seat of Nova Roma from its ancient seat to Constantinople.

It is hard for moderns to fathom , but Roman Britain (Albion) and ancient Dacia share a national history through the Oikumene. They were once part of the same Christian Roman Empire when the Nova Roma of Constantine arose in the footprint of ancient, pagan Rome at its furthest extent having both an Eastern and a Western leg to use the imagery of the prophet Daniel.

The origin of the historical terms: the Christian East and the Christian West is not only geographical, it is also imperial.

The Roman heritage of law, jurisprudence, government and administration have passed into the mettle of the nations of Romania and The Isles through the Oikumene. Even the pagan Roman concept of the fasces has passed into the national mettle as well. America, a nation of England, for example, openly displays the fasces in the Congress of the former republic.

The common and customary law of all these nations in their origins melded with the Roman heritage to produce the unique and characteristic Christian and national institutions of the Oikumene.

It was during this period of Nova Roma that nations were baptised as entire ethne into Christ by the apostolic missions that were sent out to them from Rome in the West and Constantinople in the East. The people and tribes followed their kings, their chiefs and nobility into baptism. Roman law was refounded upon the Apostolic Constitutions of an undivided Church which under Justinian Law became the basis of the foundation of the social order of all nations in the former pagan empire.

It could be argued that within Oikumene, nation states (even small nation states and little kingdoms) achieved peace, national freedom, limited self-government and security under the empire because they were no longer in a fight for survival as ethne with larger more powerful neighbours. It was a different story for those tribes without the empire – the Huns, Heruli, Avars and Ostrogoths were in a fight for survival and land.

In this sense, the Oikumene was a true polity and basis for the great flowering of Occidental and Levantine culture, language and ethnicity on the European continent and in Asia Minor that has existed nowhere else upon earth in nation states.

That stability was most notably achieved in the East – closest to the seat of government in Constantinople. Rome, the ancient seat of the former pagan Empire, remained under assault from the great barbarian tribes – like the Ostrogoths against which the Nova Roma waged war for their predations upon the traffic and order of the nation states of the empire.

From the time it was partially conquered by Constantine for the Oikumene, Dacia was a nation of the Christian East.

Briefly the timeline for Romania is as follows:

Dacia conquered by the Huns 376 A.D.

The Christian East falls to Islam in the 7th century A.D. and its populations are ethnically cleansed by the Arabs: Egypt 642, Syria and Damascus 636, Egypt 642, Pella 635, Jerusalem 638, Caesarea 640.

Lombard crusaders fought the Huns in Dacia and looted towns and cities 566 A.D. en route to join the armies of Constantinople for the wars to reclaim the Christian East. Failed to liberate Dacia.

Dacia dominated by the pagan Avars for 230 years but maintained the Christian faith of the Oikumene. Charlemagne conquers Dacia 791 A.D. for the Christian West and the Slavic people begin to arrive in Central Europe.

The Dacians integrate the Slavs and maintain the Christian faith of the Oikumene and its undivided Church under the Holy Roman Empire of the West, before and after the Great Schism 1054 A.D.

The Ottoman Caliphate completed the Islamic conquest of the Roman Christian East in 1453 A.D. With the fall of Constantinople, Dacia, then part of the Holy Roman Empire of the West was conquered by the Ottoman Caliphate. They maintained the Christian faith of the Oikumene under the Caliphate which never succeeded in stamping it out in Dacia – Romania.

Fighting on the side of Russia in the Turko-Russian War, Romania won its independence from the Ottoman Empire 1877 A.D. What we know today as the state of Romania was formed from the Danubian principalities of Wallachia and Moldavia and gained its independence from the Ottoman Empire 1877 A.D.

Virtually the entire Romanian population retained what is today called the Holy Romanian Orthodox faith. Follow what I am saying here. The Dacians were baptised into the faith of the undivided Church. They maintained it under the pagan Huns and Avars, under Charlemagne’s Roman Empire of the West (before and after the Great Schism 1054) and under Islam of the Ottoman occupation until 1877 A.D.

Historically, this is the Christian patrimony of Romania. And this is where the militiae caelistis answered the call of the Christian world – from both the Eastern and Western Patriarchates. From Romania comes the Legion of the Archangel Michael of Corneliu Zelea Codreanu and its Iron Guard. And even in formal dissolution, the Legionaries held up against the Communist Revolution to which all Christian nations of the former Oikumene have now fallen with their colonies.

Corneliu Zelea-Codreanu, September 13, 1899 – Noverber 1938 A.D.

Codreanu, sometimes spelled Codregnu, was a member of the natural aristocracy of the Romanian nation – not the genealogical nobility. He possessed the spiritual patrimony of Romania, as well as the high native intelligence capable of grasping the political hegemon, many capabilities and talents and the physical potential to take his place in elite military units that go with the turf: ‘natural aristocracy’. He formed the Iron Guard and was its Captain until his assassination in 1938.

As there is nothing equalists, levellers, cultural Marxists and Leftoid victim status seekers detest more than this type of person, especially this male type of person, I will enjoy writing it again just for this sorry lot.

Unfortunately for this sorry lot, nations and ethnic peoples possess both natural and genealogical elites. Codreanu belonged to the political and military elite of Romania. His education was in the military academy, he studied at Grenoble University in France where he earned a doctorate in Law and Economics. He was the leader of his nation in his time and forever and always the Captain of the Legionaries.

In his work : “For My Legionaries”, Codreanu draws and describes for us his “Romanian horizon”, the horizon of his own nation. This volume contains the story of his “youth from 19-34 years of age with its feelings, faith, thoughts , deeds and its errors.”

To the Legionaries. December 6, 1935:

He begins with the question of nation, specifically his own nation. What is Romania? He answers that Romania is historically and ethnically, the ancestral land of the ancient Thracians. More importantly, Romania is the way the Romanian people have lived their Christian faith and worked upon that land historically to express themselves nationally, culturally and spiritually.

His father was a secondary school teacher at the local lycee and nationalist fighter. His grandfather was a forester, also his great grandfather. “ My people (Dacia of ancient Thrace) have been from the very beginning in difficult historical times , a people of woods and mountains. That is why my soldierly upbringing and the blood in my veins impressed upon me the action at Dobrina – a naïve manifestation – a note of seriousness , which our tender age could not have presupposed. In those moments, we felt in our hearts , with our advice and experience , the presence of all our ancestors who had fought for Moldavia on the same paths that the enemies of the nation had never penetrated.”

Always in what he writes of his childhood, there is this sense of living in the heart of what he is attempting to describe and understand: Romania.

Codreanu received a military education at Manastirea Dealului military academy. He studied military sciences and soldiering at its Infantry Officer’s school. He studied Law at Iasi University.

He founded the Legionary Movement on June 24, 1927 under the name of the Legion of the Archangel Michael as a way to dedicate his life to the glory of his nation in its spiritual patrimony, Christian moral purity and economic welfare.

Prior to the Legion, Codreanu created organisations against the communisation of Romania. This was the Association of Christian Students (1922) which pledged in a religious ceremony – to continue for the rest of their lives the nationalist fight against Communism – a pledge to which many of them remained faithful to death.

He founded the political League of National Christian Defense in 1923. The League polled 120,000 votes in the Rumanian election 1926.

When he returned from Grenoble University with a doctorate in Laws and Economics (1927), he founded the Legion of the Archangel Michael . The forest oaths to the Legion were taken in the Tigheciu.

This last came to be called the Legionary Movement or just the Legionaries. Its praesidium formed the Iron Guard as the para-military wing (1930). And this became also a general term for the Legionary Movement itself.

The purpose of the Legionary Movement folded into itself the objects of the earlier organisations and superceded them in its defence of the endangered nation and of all the spiritual and historic patrimony which formed the national existence.

In many ways the Legionary Movement was unique and singularly Romanian. But its purity and clarity of motivation, its adherence to the fundamentals of the Christendom as a Civilisation, its oneness with all the ideals of Christendom gave it qualities which will endure not only against the Communist Revolution but also its Globalist/ Totalitarian phase – Zionism – which is the final objective.

The Legion was not a political organisation, yet it strove to build and organise the Romanian body politic as a constituency. It was not a church or religious order, yet its principles, formed in the Christian faith of Romania, were applied to every aspect of the Movement.

Codreanu was born into the time of Romanian history when all the patrimony of the nation was at hazard and all that the generations had built and had cherished stood to fall and be destroyed at the hands of the Communist Revolution.

In Romania, it had seized the political process – namely the democratic elections. These were no longer in the hands of the Romanian nation but had come to be owned by a hostile and non-Romanian ethnic elite. The monarchy was corrupt and heavily influenced by them. Communisation was being implemented in every area of social influence through the aid of the International Conspiracy.

Codreanu’s answer to the national chaos was the formation of the Legion of the Archangel Michael which he organised to become the champion of the Christendom within and for Romania. It was to work for  a rebirth of Christian faith, a spirit of self-denial and of responsibility in the soul of every Romanian. This was the hope of the nation as Codreanu saw it.

Strategically, the Legionaries were formed to organise Romanian action and resistance to a Bolshevik army from Russia crossing the Dniester. But more generally, they worked to cultivate a Christian spirit of non-submission to the Judaic Supremacy which was striving within all areas of social influence to communise Romania, even if such an invasion from the Soviet did not occur.

The Legionaries recognised that Bolshevism – the military aggression and hammer of the Communist Revolution – was merely a golem of the Judaic Supremacy. Whereas, it was the operation of the sickle of the Revolution which controlled much of Romania largely through the entire culture of ideas by the Jewish press aimed at the Romanian workers. This was the process of communisation.

When the Legionaries were founded, the Jewry of the cities was, as might be expected, busy with the subversion and communisation of all Romanian institutions.

Against this subversion, the Legionaries sought the national unification of the Romanian people, elevation of the peasantry through land reform and political rights. The settlement of the Jewish question within Romania was implicit in all these objectives. The Legion led open and political debate about the identity of Jewry as a non-Romanian financial elite and the issue of Jewish ownership and subversion of Romanian institutions. These debates were conducted openly with a view to the formation of policy within the political wing of the Legion. Codreanu is clearly on record against “the criminal Judaic hand which stretched out against us from Moscow and degenerating Romania from within.”

The Legion of the Archangel Michael, based upon Christian faith and morals, was intended to instil a Christian spirit of non-submission to the alien forces within and without the nation. Only this spirit would enable the people build the nation on the basis of its true history and authentic Romanian institutions.

The Legionary Movement in its political and military expressions sought to awaken the twofold heritage – the Christian faith of the individual soul and to fuse this into the soul of the nation as an ethnic people.  The goal of the Legionary Movement was to see among the people a new creation in the Christian faith.

Once this had been achieved, Codreanu wrote, we must awaken the second heritage. This is the political heritage of the shaping Roman power and its institutions. The spirit and faith are our starting point. Constructive nationalism is our arrival – almost a consequence. The Legion joins and fuses these two as one in the ascetic and heroic ethic of its Iron Guard.

One of these institutions from the ancient Roman times was the fasces. In ancient, pagan Rome, the fasces were a symbol of the old republic. They stood for the magisterial law which belonged to the freemen. The fasces are also displayed with the same meaning in the US Congress as a symbol of the old republic.

In the dominant Marxist discourse of our time, we know the fasces and ‘fascism’ are slurs against the nation as ethne; its spiritual, ethnic, cultural and historical unity: its credo, blood and soil.

Only cultural reconquest can reclaim an historic element of the Oikumene like the fasces for the nation.

“The worst thing that Jews and politicians have done to us,” Codreanu wrote “the greatest danger they have exposed us to,  is not the way they are seizing the riches and possessions of our country, destroying the Romanian middle class, the way they swamp our schools and the liberal professions , or the pernicious influence they are having on our whole political life, although these already constitute moral dangers for a people. The greatest danger they pose for the people is they are undermining us racially. They are destroying the racial Romano-Dacian structure of our people and call into being a type of human being that is nothing but a racial wreck.” Corneliu Zelea Codreanu.

This deconstruction of the racial , ethnic and spiritual identity of a nation is one of the hallmark signatures of Marxism. It is implemented in every theatre of the Revolution and in every phase.

Condreneau was a monarchist and did not think democracy could ever work for a nation with a patrimony of the Oikumene unless guaranteed by the monarchy (such as in the Bretton Parliament for self government was guaranteed in France of the ancien regime). But even so, he recognised that democracy always has the propensity to elevate the Jews over the nation and the power of the nation to form the nation state either alone or with other ethnic peoples which shared the same patrimony.

To Codreanu’s mind, the Romanian fasces of Oikumene had to stand behind Christian organisation and law that is representative of the national heritage and historic culture.

Codreanu blamed the oppression of the Romanian peasant and worker on the Judaic state and the political elites owned by them. Thus, the Communist Revolution owned by the same Judaic Supremacy had nothing to offer either the peasants or the workers . He rejected democracy not on philosophical or theoretical grounds but because , as a process , it was owned by an alien state belonging to “international financial oligarchy”. And this machine was worked by a political class that is owned by the Judaic state within the state – then as now.

Given the reality of the political hegemon, Codreanu saw that democracy as a political process is always going to be owned by them.

As the basis of social order, Codreanu looked to the Eastern Orthodox Church – of the baptised Romanian people. In his writings, the Eastern Orthodox Church is the foundation of social order in Romania. This is what had endured since the time of Constantine.

The government is established upon this foundation, not upon democracy. “We wear the clothes and embrace the forms of democracy. Are they worth anything? Democracy divides the nations among the political parties. Democracy is an instrument of the alien element and the means by which non-Romanians make themselves equal to us. Democracy as a system is run by electoral bosses – and who in Romania are the electoral bosses? The competitive character of a multi-party system demands funds – these will be supplied by international finance.”

So how could democracy possibly serve Romania?

Against the democratic, republican and ultimately Revolutionary concept of the proletariat, Codreanu defined Romania as all Romanians, living or dead; “all Romanians who have lived on this land of ours from the beginning of history and who will live on it also in the future.” The nation of Romania, he wrote, is constituted by “all Romanians currently alive as well as the souls of our ancestors and their tombs. Romania is all who were, are and will be born of Romanian blood. “

It includes:

Patrimonies of the nation. Physical, biological patrimony – flesh and blood.

Romania – the land, its soil and natural wealth

Spiritual – the credo , faith in God, the Christian understanding of nation and life.

He saw the Church as the “spiritual country which houses this national spirit. It was formed through revelation and the historic efforts of the nation to make of these patrimonies a domain. Romanian honour shines in proportion to cultural and social norms derived from God and faith in God , the people of the faith and their life. Culture is the fruit of this life and the nations own efforts in thought and expression. All these patrimonies must be expressed in the domain of the nation and defended. Most important is the spiritual patrimony because it bears the seal of eternity. A nation lives through its honour, its culture and its expressions in concept, word, works. It can live forever through its faith. “ [ 3 ]

The ultimate goal of the nation life is not its material life in history but resurrection: the resurrection of nations in the name of Jesus Christ the Saviour. “Culture and creation is the fruit of talent which God implanted in our nation, talent of which the nation is a steward.“

The history of the Legionary Movement of Corneliu Zelea Codreanu has always been presented to the West in the terms of its enemies. It has been framed in Marxist discourse for its ‘atrocities’ and anti-Semitism and so on.

The Legionaries was an anti-Bolshevist and anti-Communist organisation. It’s para-military wing was active at a time when the Communist brigades were attempting to seize control of the government according to the Marxist Leninist dictum: “above all else seize power as quickly and ruthlessly as possible.”

As Benjamin Freeman famously remarked upon hearing that US Secretary of State, Cordell Hull’s fact finding mission to the Third Reich had discovered Adolf Hitler’s jails to be filled with Jews – “Well , Communists tend to be Jews”. A goy would have had to express it like this – “Well some Communists just happen to be Jews”.

During the late 19th century and early 20th century , in Romania and Eastern Europe, the Jewish population of its various host nations held occupations in most fields (excluding , of course, those based on serious physical labour) . In the government and all bases of social influence and control, (it just happened ) that the Jews were massively ‘over-represented’: law, political, journalism, media, trade , banking (wouldn’t you know it) , business , academia, entertainment and so forth.

Under communisation and in terms of social position, the elite of Romania were not the natural and genealogical Romanian aristocracy (the real elite), but a Jewish plutocracy in occupation of Romanian institutions. They were clearly a foreign racial and cultural interest. And they were engaged in cultural conquest , exerting a massive influence on the make-over of Romanian culture to suit their interests. ‘Is it good for the Jews?’ always being at the top of the Tribal Agenda.

In the Communist phase of our Revolutionary Era – this is called active measures and subversion.

As a nation, Romania, has gone down in Western history and American Jewish textbooks as the textbook case of fascism and ‘anti-Semitism’. And to crown all, in response to the communisation of their cultural heritage, Romania spawned the Legion of St Michael and its Iron Guard. What is to be done here?

In the popular Romanian mind, the communisation of Romania was due to conspiracy, whereas the natural and genealogical aristocracy of the nation referred in its writings not so much to conspiracy as internationalism and the international banking cartel privately owned by Jewish interests – very well documented. The central bank which directorate interlocks with this cartel is Marx’s 5th plank of the Communist Manifesto. Actually this should be No. 1 – because all nations that are owned as assets of this cartel must have a central bank. And the communisation of a nation proceeds upon this basis of ownership.

Today, Corneliu Codreanu is supposed to be the big anti-Semite in Romania, but nowhere in his writings does he advocate the destruction of the Jews. He approved of the Nazi policy of deporting them to the homeland they claimed as their own – Palestine. The Nazis and the Rabbis (especially the Chabad Lubavitch) worked together to deport Jews to Palestine.

This, did however, leave Romanians with the question of Jews who wanted to be Zionists in Romania and occupy all positions of social influence.

During WWII would it have been possible for a nation like Romania, under Nazi occupation to protect a foreign Internationalist elite which wanted to constitute a state within a state? Not just against Romania, but against the Reich? In every nation where it held power, such as the US and the UK, that state within a state was in alliance with the Comintern in the USSR. Or it worked through its Supremacy to communise the Allied nations which had been used as a financial vehicle to seize Russia for their Communist Revolution and the formation of their Soviet upon the Russian population and its land.

Under the Legionary State in Romania which was formed after Codreanu’s execution, the Iron Guard of the Legionaries (although formally and officially dissolved) did remove the Jews from positions of political power and influence in Romania.

But the Third Reich definitely had a policy for the Judaic state-within-a-state Jews. And when the Reich came into occupation of Romania under King Michael I, this could not end well for them. So collectively, in the West, the Romania of the Legionary state and the Nazi occupation is regarded as the textbook case of nationalist horrors. In the classic terms of ‘Is it good for the Jews?’ The short answer here is: very bad.

It is from this Very Bad status that the Wiki profile of the Legionaries derives.

I do not attribute to the Legion or its Iron Guard any of the crimes against Jews (or any of the anointed victim status classes named in the Wiki snark). The crimes for which the Legionaries’ paramilitary wing has been sensationalized in Western Jewish atrocity propaganda and made infamous by Elie Wiesel (of so many ‘geysers of blood’ analogies) , I regard as falsely flagged.

The Legion was founded in Romania in the years between the World Wars – years which were the aftermath not only of World War I, but the Soviet war against Poland and Ukraine 1919-1921 A.D. This war (which has been airbrushed out of European history) was the full scale invasion of Europe by the Red Army of the USSR and filled with the usual Communist atrocities of Judeo-Bolshevism that also have a way of being airbrushed out of Western history.

Prince Michael Sturdza, former foreign minister of Romania wrote in his memoirs:“World War I had so weakened Russia that Lenin, Trotsky and their band of vicious criminals , financed and directed by their associates throughout Europe and in the US were able to seize power in Russia, replacing the truly progressive government of Nicholas II with Bolshevism.”

For the historical record, this was the type of government which launched a full scale invasion of Central Europe the year after it consolidated power in Russia. Its Soviet Red Army was stopped at the Vistula by the alliance of Poland and Ukraine 1921 A.D.

Having failed to invade Europe and seize power in force, the Soviet Union then became the base and support for Communist cadres and brigades in Europe between the world wars. The uprisings and seizures of state power by Revolutionaries under Leninist Party discipline was supported and co-ordinated by the Comintern in Russia.

When Codreanu formed the Iron Guard to be the paramilitary wing of the Legionaries ( March 1930), it was armed and militant against Communists Revolutionaries engaging in the type of actions against Romanians that actually are documented as the atrocities of the Jewish Communist regimes conducted by Jewish Revolutionaries everywhere – such as that of Bela Kuhn sent by Lenin to organise the Bolshevik Revolution in Hungary 1919 or Rosa Luxemburg in Germany.

The Comintern established the NKVD Jews in Poland to carry out the kind of ‘Polish’ atrocities that are well documented of Trotsky’s Red Brigades in Mexico and Spain, where a group of Codrenau’s Legionaries fought for the Carlist forces in the Spanish Civil War 1936.

The Communist genocides conducted against the people of Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Ukraine, Belarus, White Russia are chronicled in Solzhenitsyn’s The Gulag Archipelago.

The Iron Guard was formed to summarily deal with Communist Revolutionaries in Romania regardless of whether or not they just happened to be Jewish. Or as Codreneau stated – the ‘workers’ revolution in Romania’ is being conducted by people who are neither workers nor Romanians. And by all accounts, the Iron Guard did deal with them. The Western Marxist media and academia are still banging on about this – even after the translation of Solzhenitsyn’s work: Two Hundred Years Together into English.

It is interesting to note the kind of atrocities said by the Jewish press to have been committed by the Iron Guard against the Jews of Romania are an exact fit for the atrocities of the Jewish Red Brigades in Spain 1931 and in Mexico of the 1930s under Trotsky. And they are also a good fit for the Terror by Soviet backed guerrillas in Africa in the Communist Revolution on that continent.

To believe the Marxist atrocity propaganda against Romania’s Iron Guard, one must conclude they applied themselves to study the same atrocity chapters in the Red Terror playbook as the Bolsheviks.

So yes, given the reality of the Red Brigades in Europe in the interwar years, it is not too difficult to see why the para-military wing of the Legionaries dealt summarily with Communist Jews hell bent on organising Red Brigades like the ‘Polish’ NKVD for operations to be conducted in Romania similar to those of their ‘Hungarian’ and ‘Spanish’ counterparts.

In the decade of 1930-40, King Carol II of Romania attempted to steer a perilous course between leverage with the German Reich using Romanian oil and maintenance of the Little Entente with France, Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia. The goal of Romanian foreign policy was to keep both the Reich and the Soviet out of Central Europe.

But Hungary , which laid claim to the Transylvanian region of Romania was in the Reich’s sphere of influence from 1933. And King Carol was forced to reconsider the effectiveness of the Little Entente when France capitulated in the Munich Agreement 1938 and the Rhineland was remilitarised.

What then? The Third Reich was created by the Judaic Supremacy to clear the way through Central Europe for the Soviet invasion which had failed in 1921, an invasion that remained stalled in the East by Poland and the Little Entente to which the strength of the Legionaries contributed.

After 1933, Codreneau came to believe an alliance with Berlin was an alliance against Bolshevism. He believed the real threat to Romania was the USSR and to a lesser extent the Communist Revolution breaking out in Europe (which the Legionaries had prevented in Romania). He was also concerned about the allied Communist powers which had actually financed and organised the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia.

As a controlled opposition set up for the destruction of the German nation by its enemies in The City and its vector, the British Empire, Hitler had zero tolerance for rival nationalisms and fasces among the untermenschen of Central Europe. He had intercepted and jailed Legionaries attempting to return to Romania from the Spanish Civil War. But this had yet to be discovered.

It was Prince Michael Sturdza, a Legionary and Romania’s foreign minister, who made this discovery and noted it in his memoirs.

In seeking a stronger alignment with the Reich against the Bolshevik menace of the USSR – then occupied with its genocides in the Baltics and the Ukraine – King Carol met in 1938 with Adolf Hitler who insisted that he make Codreneau prime minister. Carol’s response was to establish the National Resistance Front as Romania’s only legal political party in 1938 and execute Codreanu and all members of the Iron Guard in custody 1939 .

That could have been the deal for the Nazi ‘defense’ of Romania, such as it was. As controlled opposition, the Third Reich did not tolerate a real national fasces such as the Legionaries and the Iron Guard.

Only a rigorous anti-Bolshevik policy could have won the cause of the nation – in Germany as anywhere else in Europe. Hitler, an agent of The City, trained for this at Tavistock. [ 8 ]

The Grand Plan of the Judaic Supremacy and its Crown in the empire of The City was for the Reich to invade the Soviet through Central Europe and to link up with the Bolshevik cadres in those nations that had been sown by the Communist Revolution in the interwar years – such as the NKVD in Poland. But In Romania, because of the Iron Guard, the Bolsheviks failed to create a ‘Romanian’ Red Brigade such as the ‘Polish’ NKVD. And that is because the Iron Guard assassinated them.

Was there a Romanian path between the Hammer of the Revolution wielded by USSR and the Sickle of the Revolution wielded by the Allies. They were all instruments of the Judaic Supremacy, all owned by the same “international financial oligarchy” with its financial capital in The City on the square mile of London.

The fact that Hitler was permitted to issue the Reichsmark does not prove anything. Unlike the masses of today, the Germans of the 1930s understood very well that a national currency issued by a central bank owned by the Corporation of The City means that the nation itself as an asset of the cartel. One of the reasons why Hitler went to the top of the pops in Germany was that he was permitted by The City to cancel the Deutschemark (Germany’s war reparations were owed in Deutschemark) and issue the Reichsmark through the German National Socialist government. It was a ruse of war and part of the schmo screen.

In retrospect, I do not see any path to national freedom for Romania in World War II except the Little Entente – which failed.

But for Codreanu, the strength of the nation was not bound to any foreign policy where all courses might run ill. It was bound to the principles of the Legionaries. This was the Romanian solution for the national resistance to Communism and the victory of the Judaic Supremacy in World War II– whether through Soviet invasion and incorporation into the Soviet empire in Central Europe or the Third Reich occupation of Central Europe or the occupation of the great Allied Communist powers and the communisation that would inevitably follow – as it did throughout all Western nations in the post war years..

Above all these considerations, the principles of the Legionaries were framed by Codreaneau to be the Romanian and national solution to the Judaic Supremacy – of which their Communist Revolution is only one vector of their world hegemon.

In the decade of the 1930s, Codreanu looked away from the Little Entente to the Reich which at that time was supposed to be a German nationalist power seeking allies in other nationalist powers to defeat the Soviet in Russia. Only nationalism could have won the cause of any government in Europe between the wars. And the Reich’s policy of ‘Germanisation’ for the untermenschen was not then in force in Central Europe.

Even though Hitlers jails were full of Legionaries returning from the Spain and the Civil War – which Hitler conveniently bombed for the Carlist forces – National Socialists will still argue that Hitler was an anti-Communist who tolerated a rival national fasces in Romania. Everyone has heard of Guernica , but who has heard of the atrocities of the Red Brigades and what the Spanish nation was actually fighting in the Spanish Civil War

National Socialist Germany and Italy did help Franco in Spain to defend and save Spain against the allied forces of the Communist parties in all European countries and against the coalition of the USSR and the Western Powers, the US included. This was part of the grooming of the European nations by the Nazis. (Sturdza. p. 89 )

If Nazi Germany had been, in truth, a nationalist power seeking alliance with other nationalist powers in the Reich sphere of European influence – then the Soviet could have been defeated by the Axis – if that was Hitler’s plan. Romania was just one of the Danubian nations the Nazis betrayed in deepest consequence , as Hitler betrayed the moral and political will of the German nation to crush Bolshevism where it had seized power in 1917 and where it functioned as the Hammer of the Revolution in its Communist phase.

This great net and stratagem of the Judaic Supremacy for Central Europe in the interwar years is only too clear today. But then, it was Codreanu’s Legion whichcontributed to the strength of Central Europe against Soviet invasion – as Poland had blocked the Red Army advance in the war of 1920-1921.

With the Rhineland remilitarized , King Carol and the Romanian government had to seek stronger ties with the Axis. After the collapse of the Little Entente, Sturdza gives a good account of how the principles of the Legionaries, of which he was a member, enabled him as Romania’s foreign minister to block the Soviet initiatives through the diplomatic channels after the collapse of the Little Entente. And it enabled him to discover the Deep State within the Reich that led back to The City and its empire – of which the British Empire was merely a vehicle.

The power of the Legionaries in Romania was one of the reasons why the Reich would have to clear the path for the Soviet through Romania, as the Legion was the sole obstacle to the communisation of Romania by the Jews.

The Victory of the Legion is Not Life But Resurrection

“The Legion is preoccupied by the soul. Its mission is to strengthen the national heritage, culture and society in its conflicts through the cultivation of the Christian faith in its heroic virtues. This preparation has in mind final salvation through the Christic life of our mother the Church as she sets us on the way. The true destiny of the people lies not in time but in eternity, not in our historical life, but in resurrection.” Corneliu Zelea Codreanu.

For Codreanu, Christian Civilisation and Western Civilisation were one and the same thing.

Prince Sturdza thought that the national cause was defended by one political group only: the Legionary Movement. As he took note of the International Conspiracy lining up the chess pieces of nations for the great War.

He joined with the Legionaries because he found in it the living inheritance and essential wellsprings of his nation. (Sturdza. p. 191)  And his memoirs portray the Legion at work through its Romanian organisations and principles in the pre- World War II diplomacy and political analysis.  He sets down  principles that have continued to motivate it through all of its surprising history; principles alive today in the hearts of Romanians : those in exile and those enslaved in their own homeland. And of course, the life of the Legion as it continues in what Codreanu called “other Romanian horizons”.

Awaiting his execution, Codreanu seemed aware that his non-Romanian spiritual sons and daughters would take up their positions on the battlefront of the Communist Revolution in due course. In all likelihood, the young Commandants mysteriously charismated for the “other Romanian horizons” would never have heard of Codreanu or the Iron Guard, but in their Christian faith, in their love of their own national heritage and its relationship to Oikumene, in their fight, in their work and thinking – the Legion would live on, its vitality refreshed and forever young.

That is the nature of the Legionaries.

As Prince Sturdza clearly saw, the Legion will always constitute an obstacle to the communisation of the nation. And it’s most brutal suppression will always be at the hands of those attempting to implement communisation. (Sturdza. p., 284).

Of all the names which have helped to nurture the spread of Communism, the largest and most important agency named in Sturdza’s memoirs are Weishaupt’s Illuminists. This was Sturdza’s name for the Deep State in all Western nations. This is what President Kennedy called “the monolithic and ruthless conspiracy” in his speech: “We are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy.”

The speech that killed him / John F. Kennedy:

The Angel that rides in the whirlwind of the Revolution and directs this storm has always been in the United States. Sturdza nails this. He had in his possession a communique of the Ambassador of France to Russia:

Mon Ambassade en Russie Sovietique 1917-1919. Joseph Noulens

“A wind of reaction was blowing at that time over the whole of Russia against the devastating furors of Bolshevism. The struggle for emancipation in the Urals, in Siberia, in the Donets and in the Northern provinces had torn from the authority of the Soviets a great part of Russian territory. Bolshevism seemed to be on the verge of collapse. It was saved by the intervention of the allied powers, and principally by the untoward intervention of President Wilson [who] secured the survival of the Communist regime. The Bolsheviks themselves were convinced that the experiment of Communism had reachd its end; they were more surprised than anybody else at the unexpected turn of events.”

And today, it is known, although not yet common knowledge, that of all his infamies, President Woodrow Wilson sent the US marines to Russia to assist the Bolsheviks. They were tasked to engage the White Russian army, prevent them from marching upon Moscow and summarily removing the Jews who were busy seizing the organs of the Russian government in Moscow.

This infamy of infamies must never be forgotten in America.

Prince Sturdza’s memoirs document how this deeprooted, centrally controlled and directed conspiracy working for the destruction of Western Civilisation precipitated both World Wars I and II. It worked covertly in all Western nations to create, nurture and firmly establish the communist beast in Russia. It worked to introduce the beast into the system of European alliances and guarantee politically and militarily that only Soviet Russia would be the victor and beneficiary in the world war they brought down upon the world. (Sturdza p., 15) They set up the Nazi Party to win the cause of the nation in Germany and clear the path through Central Europe for Soviet invasion and occupation.

Sturdza writes of “that strange my-country-to-be-defeated” underground in the German command. Canaris, Baron Weizsacker of Canaris ilk, Keitel, Jodl and other German generals who – to the end their oath of fidelity to their country and Commander have been criticised for having consented to too many operations contrary to sane military doctrine. Those criticisms are unjust, Sturdza thought. The operations entrusted to them and their comrades were carried out with unsurpassed brilliancy and professional competence. It was treason – the same treason that lurks and operates today in the Western camp that threw the German command into the pitfall of an unexpected winter campaign without adequate preparation.” (Sturdza. p. 274 )

Sturdza’s memoirs track the Conspiracy through the European political affairs of his own time. He picked up those threads in the offices and personalities of his career as Romania’s foreign minister. He personally knew many who “ carried the thread of the conspiracy which has run through all human affairs from the time of the French Revolution 1789 to the present”, those who helped to nurture and spread Communism – the biggest and most important agency of the Illuminati– throughout the globe.” (Sturdza p., 15)

The Illuminati or Weishaupt’s Illuminists is Sturdza’s term for what Vincent Cartwright Vickers, former governor of the Bank of England called “the international financial oligarchy”. In the years of the Cold War, it was called The Crown of the Empire of the City – in effect The Crown of the Judaic or Zionist Supremacy. It was called the Judaic Hegemon or the more precise term in the Roman Catholic press: Judeo-Masonry and its Hegemon. Today it is just called : the JWO.

The machinations of statecraft in which Prince Sturdza participated and had personal knowledge left him in no doubt of the Hidden Hand setting up the chess pieces for another fratricidal European war – one that would strengthen the position of the USSR as the world’s foremost Communist state and deliver European nations to its empire.

Sturdza’s memoirs offer conclusive evidence that this deeprooted , centrally controlled and directed Conspiracy , working for the destruction of Western Civilisation precipitated World War II. “The members of the Conspiracy and its numerous dupes and allies had not the least concern for the welfare of the countries they ruled or were appointed to serve; time and again they sacrificed the interests of their own nation to actions which directly aided Communism. From the end of WWI, these men did not only take advantage of every opportunity to foster their plans, but rather , they have even created the necessary events on which to build their further advance .” He shows how this strategy was fulfilled in regard to WWII and its outcome. His memoirs show how men of state (owned by the Conspiracy) worked feverishly to push Western Civilization to the brink and over.  (Sturdza p., 15)

He showed how the British monarchy, which he calls the British Crown was not and is not sovereign in the U.K. (Sturdza p., 112) He illustrates the complete subservience of Washington and Whitehall to the Conspiracy .(Sturdza p., 25). Nothing in regard to this hegemon has changed since World War II.

Infiltrators from the International Conspiracy where known by Sturdza. He knew they were not subject to the Communist Party per se, they were not under the Party discipline of the Comintern. But they took orders from the Conspiracy’s Apex in the Washington – London axis.  (Sturdza p., 22) .

This is exactly what Bella Dodd testified before the McCarthy Senate Hearings on the activities of the Communist Party USA, of which she was on the executive. [ 9 ]

And finally, the machinery of deception has applied itself in the Fourth Estate to help the Western Powers rid themselves of their responsibilities toward the countries “they handed over to the Communist Moloch at Teheran, Yalta and Potsdam. Press advisors attached today to nearly every government and every statesman in a post of command.” (Sturdza. p. 276)

And they used the most vicious and ruthless means to destroy the national revival in Romania which was embodied in the Legionary Movement – a group which might have (and almost did) thwart a major part of the plot to start WWII.

The Legion, however, expected victory from a different quarter, from the inner realisation of soul. This was not founded on either the principle of authority or liberty – but on the principle of love as understood in the Gospel.

“Our deliverance is in labour, honour, love of country and faith in God. We work for one Romania with our Christian Church being the foundation of the social order” wrote Codreanu.

Sturdza, the statesman, summarises the principles of the Legionaries as the basis from which he expected victory against the Communist Revolution for the Judaic Hegemon, if not in his time – in due time.

The Legion is a hierarchy and it also functioned as a military chain of command in the Iron Guard. The law of discipline in the Legion is to be obedient. Without discipline we can not win. Follow your chief for better or worse.

The law of work is to do the daily work. Work with joy. Let the reward of your work be not any material profit but the satisfaction that you have contributed something to the glory of the Legion and the greatness of your country.

The law of silence is to speak little. Eloquence is in deeds. Let others talk; you do.

The law of education in the Legionaries is to become another type of man.

Follow only the ways shown by honour. Fight. Do not be a coward. Leave to others the ways of infamy. Better to fall fighting according to the way of honour than to conquer by infamy.

For the mind of the Legionaries – the line of the nation’s laws is to be followed and respected. But the Legionaries should not expect this to avail in the Communist Revolution or governments subverted by them. The way Communist owned governments think is this way, Codreanu explained: If they can not destroy the nation under pretext that we have violated the laws, then they will violate the laws and destroy us. For the Legionaries, the laws of the nation is the choice of ground and principle. The Legionaries choose to remain within framework of the laws and do not permit being placed into position of violation. The Legion should expect , however, to be convicted in Kangaroo Courts of having violated the laws.

The Legionaries, wrote Codreanu should also expect to fall in battle. (Sturdza p., 17) The goal is always to strengthen the national character and the  fighting morale of the nation according to the Gospel of Christianity because only a bastion of Christianity is a bastion against Communism.

Naturally, those working with the International Conspiracy at the level of the state used the most brutal means to crush the Legion – including the murder of Codreanu.

While he was in prison, Codreanu foresaw many things of the Legionaries. He saw that in the supreme national crisis, there would appear the creative personalities who would be representative of the national aspirations and capable of the principles of the Legion. Capable either from knowledge, study and application. Or a Commandant would forge these principles for himself through his own experience. Working through the holy faith, the Legionaries who would come after Codreanu would create the spirituality to bring national aspirations to life and they would find wisdom to steer the course toward realisation – in their own lives and the lives of those they influenced. It was not so much a question of study and application of history and texts as it was a matter of charismation under the conditions and nature of the battle itself: the greatest danger ever faced by Western Civilisation (Sturdza. p., 26). And , of course, it was also a matter of the Legion itself – what it is in its essence and its Archangel patron.

According to Codreanu, the Commandant of the Legionaries even after the formal dissolution of the organisation, still incarnates the spirituality of the Legion and works out the principles and practice in the interests and destiny of the nation he serves in its conflict with Communism and the Conspiracy.

Because of the power of Communist subversion, perhaps the young Commandants of the Legionaries would not be recognised as such by the remnants of the Legion or even be known as such by their own nations – perhaps not until years after their lifetimes had passed . Codreanu knew the mission of the Legionaries would continue. And his leaders would come forward. Those who knew what the Legion was and is would see its continuation in other nations.

The militiae caelistis had been invoked.

The Bible puts it like this: “…at that time shall Michael rise up, the great prince, who standeth for the children of thy people: and a time shall come such as never was from the time that nations began even until that time. And at that time shall be thy people be saved, every one that shall be found written in the book.” (Daniel 12: 1 DRV)

For this “time of all times and end of all ends”, Codreanu was not so much “concerned here with what is left in Romania of the Legion. What we are anxious to see is the hour at which it will become evident that every Romanian has become a Legionary. For we firmly believe that as long as such a transformation has not occurred, in Romania and the other enslaved countries and even among the masses of all Western countries, the danger of a universal Communist victory is constantly around the the corner.” (Sturdza p.,110)

Codreanu wanted the Legion to strive for excellence in whatever their endeavors were for the patrimony of their nations, a patrimony which would be pitched against the Communist Revolution. Of course, way down the line in the ‘every Romanian a Legionary’ aspiration and even for other nations set to contest the Revolution, those endeavours might be quite humble, but still the principle of excellence for the work of the Legion and its discipline was one of the first principles.

“As we saw in Romania” Sturdza observed “neither murder, torture, nor imprisonment – but slander and lies were the ugliest of the weapons used against the Legionary Movement. And this has been without interruption from its foundation and up to now, the victim of the most cruel terror by all successive Rumanian governments from the most ‘conservative’ to the Communist government of today with its special concentration camps for extermination of Legionaries (Leonard Krishner : Prisoner of Red Justice) The Movement has been a menace to the Communist state. Among all the political groups and parties that aspired only to power and its benefits, the Movement was the only defender of the state against corruption, usurpation, treason and finally the surrender of the state itself to Communist domination”.(Sturdza p., 323) This would include the communisation of the society.

Following Codreanu, the Legion does not surrender the state to the Sickle of the Revolution which is subversion by way of the Long March through the institutions.

In his last imprisonment, Codreanu wrote his final work before his execution in 1938. For My Legionaries is the work he dedicated to the Legionaries of “other Romanian horizons” their nations locked in the same titanic struggle with Communism and its Judaic Supremacy that Codreanu describes in The Prison Notes, his manuals and political writings; the same struggle that Prince Michael Sturdza of the Legionaries documents in his memoirs.

In the “Crimson Thread of the Oikumene” series of essays, the nations of England: Rhodesia, America and Australia are considered as ‘other Romanian horizons’ for which Codreanu wrote his final work.

1. The Roman fasces. The fasces were an Etruscan symbol adopted by the Romans to symbolize judical power of the Regal period. Emperors originally had 12 lictors who carried the fasces for their magistrates. This is an ancient Etruscan concept which regarded the law as a teacher. Magistrate being Latin for magister – teacher. The lictors were the house guard of the Roman magistrate. They cleared the way of the magistrate in publicabd punished offenders. Under Domitian 81 AD – the lictors were succeeded by the consuls.

Under the republic, the fasces became a Latin symbol of the nation of freemen. The lictors were freemen.

In modern republics , the fasces is the symbol of the national republic of freemen – especially in nations which have the legacy of Roman law. The US Congress , for example , displays the fasces in the House of Representatives. In Marxist discourse – fascism means dictatorship and is a slur against nationalism and the cause of the free nation.
